The great thing about long established companies is that not only they are solid partners, but that they offer the best products and the best service, which only comes from first class knowledge and decennia of experience. JT Beaven is one of these companies.
Established 247 years ago and still housed in the original premises in Holt, its history has been long and characterised by adjustments to the business model in an attempt to keep up with ever changing times.
A brief overview: J.&T. Beaven Ltd
1770:James and Thomas Beaven found J&T Beaven Ltd. Company, mainly active in the wool stapling and fellmongering business, and a limited amount of tanning
1870:
1970:JT Beaven mark their bicentenary. Having lead the business for the past 200 years the family decides to best way to secure the companies future is to join the James Garnar Group of tanneries, for which JT Beaven integrates the groups chamois production.
1985: James Garner is taken over by Pittards PLC. JT Beaven is given access to the vast know how and laboratories of Pittards and together they develop the Dry Soft Chamois.
1996: Pittards decide to withdraw from the chamois business, JT Beaven is sold to Guy Colle.
1998: The tanning and finishing of skivers is moved from the UK to a dedicated Italian tannery, Conceria di Urgnano, located between Milan and Venice.
2001:The time has come to diversify the range of products offered, and gradually a full selection of cleaning accessories is being made available to complement our chamois leathers.
2007:A logistic center is set up the north of Belgium in order to better serve our continental european customers, offering them the option of a 24 hr response when needed.
Copies of the UK production facility are set up in China and India. Part of the production is transferred to those tanneries.
2009:J&T Beaven and Lemmen GmbH, foundet 1938, decide to join forces in order to offer a wide range of chamois leathers and cleaning accessories to their broad range of customers
