REPSOL

About us

Repsol is a global multi-energy company that is capable of meeting all its customers' needs, whether at home or on the move. It employs 25,000 people in more than twenty countries and serves twenty-four million customers.

The company boasts one of Europe's most efficient refining systems, capable of processing over one million barrels of crude per day. One of the keys to its decarbonization strategy is to transform its industrial complexes — six of them located on the Iberian Peninsula — into multi-energy hubs, capable of turning a wide variety of raw materials and waste into products with a low carbon footprint such as 100% renewable fuels. In April 2024, Repsol launched its Cartagena plant, the first on the Iberian Peninsula dedicated exclusively producing this kind of fuel.

Repsol's goal is to reach a total production capacity of renewable fuels, including renewable hydrogen and biomethane, of between 1.5 and 1.7 million tons in 2027 and up to 2.7 million tons in 2030. It also plans to install electrolyzers in its five industrial complexes in Spain, with the aim of producing 700 MW of renewable hydrogen by 2027, and up to 2,400 MW by 2030. The first was launched in 2023 at its Petronor refinery.

Repsol's industrial activity also manufactures a wide variety of high value-added petrochemical products, which are used to produce everyday objects that are essential for society, such as computers, telephones, household appliances, cables, sports shoes, toothbrushes, safety helmets, mattresses, medical containers and masks, caps, and surgical gowns. The company is also a leading supplier of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Spain, with four million customers, and markets its lubricants in over ninety countries around the world.

In the Hydrocarbon Exploration and Production business, Repsol's activity focuses on geographic areas with competitive advantages and greater value, especially in OECD countries such as the United States. In total, it produces an average of 599,000 barrels of oil per day and has proven reserves of 1.841 billion barrels equivalent.

Its extensive network of 4,500 service stations across Spain, Portugal, Peru and Mexico offers fuels and is incorporating alternatives such as 100% renewable fuels, electric recharging, AutoGas, and natural gas for vehicles. It currently supplies renewable diesel in more than 300 service stations on the Iberian Peninsula and plans to expand this offer to six hundred locations by the end of 2024 and has 1,900 public EV charging points in Spain.

In terms of home energy supply, Repsol is the fourth-largest electricity supplier in Spain, with more than 2.3 million customers and a 6% share. It also offers self-consumption of solar energy solutions to individuals, neighborhood communities, and companies.

To help its customers make savings, the company offers Waylet, Spain’s leading loyalty and payment app for mobility, which allows you to pay at any of its service stations and offers multiple offers, products, and services. It boasts 8 million users, and the goal is to exceed ten million by 2027.

Another pillar of its decarbonization strategy is renewable electricity generation. In recent years, Repsol has built a diversified business, with a presence mainly in Spain, the United States and Chile, which has allowed it to consolidate itself as an international operator in the sector.  Its asset portfolio includes wind, solar, and hydroelectric facilities, with an approximate installed capacity of 3,000 MW and 3,300 MW under development. The goals are to increase generation capacity to between 9,000 MW and 10,000 MW by 2027.

To make this transformation possible, the company is relying on the talent of its employees, the digitalization of its processes, and the development of innovative technologies. This strategy will allow Repsol to continue advancing on its path towards decarbonization and reach its commitment to society of becoming a net zero emissions company by 2050.
