This particularly sustainable and climate-friendly hybrid car was planned and designed by students on the Master's degree courses in Mechanical Engineering and Vehicle Development. During the development period of several years in the UAS project "GREEN-Gen", they already paid attention to environmental friendliness in the selection of materials and production. In terms of the entire chain of production, operation and disposal, the vehicle's CO₂ emissions are a record-breaking 35 grams per kilometer. Young and classic cars are becoming environmentally friendly thanks to a conversion kit that consists of a modern engine control system and can be adapted to any type of vehicle. With their development, two mechanical engineering students have made it possible to burn alternative biofuels after the conversion - even pure ethanol. The electronic engine control system and an integrated exhaust gas aftertreatment system improve the exhaust gas values to the level of new cars, even when running on petrol. In this Master's project, students are developing a special trailer that supplies several power outlets and a cold storage room with energy for around seven days - independently of the power grid and based solely on renewable and emission-free technologies: photovoltaics, batteries and hydrogen fuel cells. Some challenges have to be mastered in teamwork, such as the dimensioning of the subsystems, weight distribution and dynamic loads.
