Glo-Leak UV-Fluorescent leak testers
Find leaks in Engines, Transmissions, Air conditioners and refrigeration systems, Cooling systems, Hydraulic systems.
Glo-Leak® UV is a liquid additive solution that makes your fluids and refrigerants fluoresce brightly in the beam of an ultraviolet tracer light, so that you can actually see where the leaks are coming from.
Engineered with one or more fluorophores in total solution with compatible base fluids, Glo-Leak UV Test Fluids give fluorescent potential to lubricants, coolants, hydraulic fluids and air conditioning refrigerants. A UVA (or UV-Blue) tracer light, directed at suspected leakage points, converts that fluorescent potential into a bright yellow, yellow-green, blue or pink fluorescent glow.
Glo-Leak offers the best value leak detection solutions for vehicle air conditioners, engines, transmissions, cooling systems, and bodywork, as well as commercial refrigeration and air conditioning, industrial machinery and plant.
Glo-Leak® UV has been successfully used for almost 30 years in a wide range of production industries including vehicle assembly and engine plants. OEM grade Glo-Leak® UV fluorescent test fluids are added at dosage rates from as little as 200ppm (0.02%) to create the fluorescent response you need for Quality Control of potential fluid leakage.
In the Aftermarket, Glo-Leak® UV gives you OEM standards of quality control to ensure that you give your customers the best possible services.
A wide range of Glo-Leak® UV test fluids is produced to satisfy the needs of the different applications. They fall into the following categories:
- Production line and industrial testing of lubricating oils, hydraulics, cooling, air conditioning and refrigeration
- Automotive Aftermarket leak testing for engines, hydraulics, and cooling
- Mobile air conditioning
- Land based refrigeration and air conditioning
Please contact us for specific technical information.
For vehicle producers, enquiries are dealt with individually. Customised solutions ensure the best quality control and best productivity.
For Aftermarket testing, the following formulations are standardised.
To detect leaks of engine oils, petrol and diesel fuels:
Glo-Leak® 1310 is designed for use with a 365nm UVA light source and is perfect for all mineral oil based lubricants and hydraulic fluids. Add directly to the oil filler using the bottle’s integral measuring chamber.
Glo-Leak® 1312 is formulated to react better with near UV light sources in the 390-410nm range, as well as traditional 365nm UVA lights. Glo-Leak® 1312 is also tuned to work better with synthetic and semi-synthetic engine oils.
To detect automotive cooling system leaks:
Glo-Leak® 1390 is for water cooled systems. Add Glo-Leak® 1390 to the radiator or expansion bottle (when the engine is cool) at the rate of 10ml per 3 litres of coolant, and find the coolant leaks you would otherwise have missed. Add to the coolant expansion reservoir using the Glo-Leak bottle’s integral measuring chamber.
To detect rainwater ingress and trace wind noise:
Glo-Leak® 1396 is for bodywork, windscreens, door seals, etc. Use Glo-Leak® 1396 to find rain water leaks in windscreens, door seals, boot lids, etc., at the rate of 25ml per 10 litres of water. Apply the mixture externally to the suspected areas with a hand sprayer or a pressurised hose system. When you inspect with a UVA or UV-Blue light from the inside of the vehicle, look for a blue glow. Combine ultrasonic with Glo-Leak® 1396, and you’ll be sure to catch all the leaks.
To detect air conditioning refrigerant leaks:
Glo-Leak UV for Mobile AC has a recommended dosage of just 5ml per 250ml of lubricant, and it is much stronger than most rival products.
Glo-Leak for AC may be injected precisely into the AC using a patented hermetic Concertina injector or via the patented hermetic injection system on your AC service machine.
Glo-Leak® 1234 is specially formulated to mix safely with R1234yf refrigerant. Just as additional special processes are required to produce HFO-PAG lubricants for R1234yf, the same is true of this newest Glo-Leak®UV formulation. Glo-Leak® 1234 is backward compatible with R134a and other refrigerants.
Concertina is Primalec’c patented hermetic injection system for oils, Glo-Leak-UV and other additives. And new for 2024 is Glo-Leak in our hermetic single dose Vac-U-Can additive system.

Leak Repair – Seal Pro
Primalec offers two types of chemical tool to help you with mobile air conditioning leaks.
Primalec is the only European manufacturing source of Type P leak sealants.
Airco Seal Pro
The original automotive A/C leak sealer, now made in UK.
It forms a permanent seal, repairing micro leaks in both metal and elastomeric components. Some rival sealants merely form a plug on the inside of the leak, which can fail under the vacuum cycle of a normal A/C service routine.
• Permanently stops micro leaks in both metal and elastomeric parts in automotive A/Cs
• Especially valuable with hard to find leaks and expensive to repair components
• Saves huge amounts of time and money in parts and labour
• Makes previously uneconomic repairs affordable
• Ideal low cost repair for out of warranty vehicles
• Contains no refrigerant, no propellant and no dyes or other additives in the vacuum can - just Airco Seal. Now in a choice of two sizes: Airco SealPro 1 for smaller cars. Airco SealPro 2 for larger cars
There are three main types of sealant chemistry on the market today:
Type E - sealants restore flexible hoses and seals by mildly swelling the elastomers. They can stop leakage from those parts, but not metal components. Primalec’s AC2222C Extra Cool, which replaces AC2138 Leak Stop 1, also contains the ICE32 system boosting additive and a dose of Glo-Leak UV.
Type P - Permanent polymeric sealants create a hard seal at the leak point, resistant to deep vacuum. Sealpro chemically reacts with the condensation which forms externally at the leak source as gas escapes under pressure. This forms a permanent seal on the micro leak. Primalec is the only European manufacturing source of Type P leak sealants.
Type M - Macromolecular sealants work like car radiator sealants. They use large molecules
which bunch up at the leak site, forming a bung to block the leak. Primalec does not currently
offer a Type M sealant.
SealPro Advanced- the permanent micro leak sealant for static AC&R
SealPro Advanced for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning systems permanently and quickly seals refrigerant leaks up to 300 microns. It gives HVACR engineers a powerful chemical tool, especially when repairing older installations in which small persistent leaks cannot be identified.
HVACR SealPro
SealPro keeps systems running without micro leakage. The permanent seal will also prevent any new leaks as it remains active in the system. Sealpro contains no refrigerant and no propellant in its hermetic long life vacuum can. So it works with all common refrigerants HFCs, HCs, HFOs, and blends including R410a & R32.
Engineered to HVACR industry standards, SealProTM Advanced is easily installed into a fully-charged system, with NO pump down or recovery. Recommended for systems losing no more than 15% of the entire charge over a four-week period.
Now with ExtraDry to eliminate moisture, boost its Type P sealant performance and help prevent waxing and acid formation, SealPro is faster and more compressor-friendly than ever.
It is ideal for older systems, in which small persistent leaks cannot be identified, extending their lifetime.
So when you can find the leak, you can repair it conventionally,
BUT...
• when you can’t find that micro leak and/or
• when the cost of replacement parts is uneconomical and/or
• when the parts are just not available when you need them
THEN – you should use SealPro

Nitro Trace™ pressure testing & Leaktronic sensors
The application of high pressure inert gas to sealed systems and components, such as heat exchangers and air conditioning circuits, is a well-known method of leak testing. Dry Oxygen Free Nitrogen (OFN) is the recommended medium for pressure testing air conditioning and refrigeration systems when all the refrigerant has taken out. By observing the drop in pressure on a test gauge it is possible to verify if there is a leak, but not where the leak is located. The leak can then be located with a leak disclosure spray and/or an ultrasonic tester.
Primalec provides an added dimension with Nitro Trace™ gas, a combination of OFN with Hydrogen. Hydrogen has the smallest atom of all gasses, and will leak through the tiniest of leak sources, and as it can be detected using electronic hydrogen sensing technology, the leak location can be pin-pointed with the Leaktronic-4 detector. Leak spray may be also used for added assurance of the leak source.
Nitro-Trace is available in conveniently portable cylinders along with the pressure regulators gauges and hoses that are required to complete an accurate test.
Leaktronic™ sensors use advanced heated solid electrolyte technology to detect leaks. Three models are available.

Cleansing and deodorising the internal environment of motor vehicles is a valuable service that your customers will appreciate, and one which can earn additional income for garages when the right equipment is used.
Primalec’s important sanitising range helps you to achieve professional levels of service by eliminating odours and other irritants from the cabin air.
Odours and irritants build up in the hidden A/C evaporator chamber as well as in the vehicle cabin. Moisture in the air collects on the evaporator core’s surfaces, where it condenses into water. Most water drains out, but some stays put. So when the car is not running, the dark, wet and warm evaporator chamber is an ideal breeding environment for the moulds and bacteria which cause unpleasant odours and irritants. As the mould matures, it gives off spores which join bacteria, pollen and other particles that dislodge to join the airflow into your nasal passages and lungs as you breathe.
Ozone generated by the PURIFIER™ not only eliminates those obvious 'living odours' such as cigarette smoke, pet odours, mildew, and fast food smells, but also seeks out harmful bacteria, pollens and allergens throughout the vehicle by permeating the fabrics of upholstery, seats, roof linings and trim, as well as the air circulation system.
Primalec’s sanitising programme also includes the Airco Refresh and Airco-Shield spray treatments. These odour eliminators are available in either 1-shot, total release and in multiple use versions, and in a variety of pleasant fragrances.
Please contact us or refer to Primalec’s catalogue for more information about any of these products and more.

Snow Leopard specialist Air Conditioning Lubricants
Inspired by that rare and beautiful feline that inhabits the high Himalayas, Snow Leopard Technical Lubricants are made to the highest specifications for the alternating hot and cold environments of AC and refrigeration systems.
Air conditioning oils are designed to lubricate the moving parts of the refrigerant compressor, as well as o-rings, seals and flexible pipework. As it shares its home with the refrigerant, the two must be compatible to prevent mutual harm. Use the wrong oil and you risk destabilisation of the refrigerant, especially HFO-1234yf.
R1234yf breaks down rapidly in the atmosphere. It is intrinsically less stable than previous refrigerants. Therefore the compressor oil must remain stable and retain its lubricity in all conditions. Comparative test data show that some products sold in Europe today are not stable in R1234yf. This may cause damage within the AC system down the line. Thanks to our partnership with world renowned PAG technologists, Snow Leopard HFO-PAGs provide the best performance and products that you can rely on.
Formulated from select synthesised base oils, and refined with optimised additives to meet and exceed specifications, Snow Leopard oils have the power to correctly lubricate and protect your refrigerant compressor and to optimise the performance of any AC system.
Snow Leopard HFO PAGs have been specifically developed to work with the new R1234yf refrigerant, but they also work very well with R134a. They are OEM grade double end-capped PAGs which have undergone extra manufacturing processes to ensure compatibility with R1234yf. Optimised additive technology provides correct anti-wear, extreme pressure and anti-corrosion performance, without the excessive additive dosages that can cause with elastomer delamination.
Snow Leopard EP-PAGs for CO2 are Extreme Performance double end-capped lubricants, which have been developed to retain their superior lubricity, thanks to high chemical, thermal and hydrolytic stability at the very high pressures and temperature found in CO2 systems. EP-PAGs also retain viscosity better than POEs do under CO2 dilution, and so maintain excellent wear properties. EP-PAGs are significantly less hygroscopic than uncapped PAGs.
Snow Leopard MRL85 is the ester based lubricant for R1234yf & R134a, formulated and additised to lubricate all belt-driven and electric A/C compressors. MRL85 was developed to meet the twin challenges of (a) the mildly flammable classification of HFO-1234, and (b) the need for superior di-electric properties in electric compressors on hybrids and others. Used by many as a single replacement for the variety of oils required in mobile A/C.
Snow Leopard Extra Cool PAG oils for R134a. These premium high performance PAGs restore original cooling power to older A/Cs. Their special additive package removes gummy deposits built up over years, and forms a slippery thin film boundary layer on metal surfaces. The resultant faster refrigerant flow, better oil return and more efficient heat exchange help restore the original cooling power to older A/Cs.
