Brake Calipers
Beschreibung
Brakes are meant to slow down or stop a vehicle by converting the energy of motion into heat using friction. In passenger cars, hydraulic pressure generated by the driver and brake booster is used to apply force to the wheel assembly. In disc brake systems, the brake caliper will convert this pressure into a force applied on the brake pads. Brake calipers can be fitted with mechanical or electric parking brake systems.
It is amazing how many different OE caliper designs have been developed over time. Our brake caliper program includes more than 3,850 part numbers segmented into technology families and covers 96% of the passenger and light commercial vehicles in Europe. Each of our steel calipers goes through a coating treatment that provides efficient and effective corrosion protection. Note that the coating process is also done in-house, allowing us to fully control the production process. Our caliper program is not limited to hydraulic calipers; it also includes remanufactured electric parking brakes. While ensuring the functional and performance aspects at 100%, we invest significant time and resources in the cosmetic aspect of our calipers too. In terms of functionality and performance, the piston area is, among other aspects, critical in a caliper, and of course, micro finish specifications are well integrated into our control plan and FMEA. The brake caliper is a safety-relevant product, and we are proud to benefit from the trust of our customers and to remanufacture massive quantities of calipers every year.
