Located in Karben, Germany, the company was founded back in 1970 by its present Managing Director, Guido Hommel. Known then as "G. Hommel Kunststoffe", the company finally renamed itself ClimAir PLAVA Kunststoffe GmbH in 1978, a name which has come to be known worldwide. Already in the seventies, Guido Hommel had the vision of finding ways to create more safety and comfort for drivers. That vision together with his extensive expertise has made ClimAir what is still stands for today: a forward-looking, continuously developing company with high-quality products and innovative ideas.
Today, the company employs approximately 180 staff who coordinate, organize and take charge of the production and sale of car and truck accessories. Then as now, the company emphasizes quality and fitting accuracy. In order to ensure this completely, ClimAir suppliers must also meet these requirements. But it's not only about quality: From the outset of all the company's activities, product safety also represents a key factor. The products are tested according to the required standards and many have been accepted by German road traffic regulations via the German type approval (ABE).
For both cars and trucks, ClimAir has been a recognized supplier for the international automotive industry for many years. ClimAir today supplies the automotive sector with a product range encompassing over 4,000 products, which are always adapted to the special features of each vehicle type. In addition to rain and wind deflectors for cars and trucks, the company's products also include sun protection systems, bumper corner protectors, cargo and load securing systems. Individually tailored for each vehicle type, the products are made of high-grade materials for high durability. It is for this as for other reasons that the name ClimAir has come to stand both domestically and internationally for safety, comfort and aerodynamics - and that for over 30 years.
In order to make this possible, ClimAir has extended its production sites within the recent years continuously. The world market leader now produces in three work shifts in two production lines on 11.800 sqm (total area of the headquarters in Karben: 30.000 sqm) approximately 4.500 rain and wind deflectors and other products per day.
ClimAir is thus able to supply all main car manufacturers as well as many other vendors of car components in 34 countries and 4 island states worldwide.
ClimAir products provide safety, comfort and aerodynamics for over 400 vehicle types.
ClimAir rain and wind deflectors allow an optimal ventilation of vehicle interiors: When it rains and snows, they block water from entering when the window is opened slightly and, on hot, sunny days, they prevent the accumulation of heat in the passenger space. Through the optimal entry of fresh air, the models PROFI – the front side window wind deflector – and MASTER – the rear side window deflector – afford a more secure and comfortable ride. PROFI has received German type approval (ABE) according to German road traffic regulations (StVZO).
The patented sun, vision and insect protection defends against heat and ensures good visibility, but only from the inside: cargo cannot be seen from the outside. SONNIBOY is available for the rear window and the rear side windows. Its custom fit provides protection from sun, vision and insects for all model versions. The SONNIBOY boasts a fast, easy installation and can be combined with the models PROFI and MASTER. In addition, no disassembly is required in order to lower the windows.
The bumper corner and loading sill protection for cars ensures more secure loading and unloading. Scratched paintwork in the loading area is not only frustrating, but can also become an expensive problem in the case of leased vehicles. With a visual design based on the tailgate shape of the respective car model, the high fitting accuracy of the PROTEXOR offers optimal protection from scratches.
The ClimAir product range offers enhanced driving comfort not only for cars: AULUX is the rain and wind deflector designed for commercial vehicles which offers the same advantages as the model range for cars and is made of 3 mm cast acrylic glass. The AULUX also has the general operating license (ABE) - as the only supplier in this segment by the way.
Glare-free driving, improved UV protection and reduced fatigue when driving long distances are crucial for ensuring a high degree of driving comfort and safe vehicle operation, especially for drivers of commercial vehicles. ClimAir sun visors for commercial vehicles, which are available for almost all truck models, afford a high degree of added safety on sunny days.
