German Federal Association for eMobility
The »Bundesverband eMobilität« (BEM) is an association of companies, institutions, scientists, and users in the field of electromobility, dedicated to transitioning mobility in Germany to electromobility based on renewable energy sources. The tasks of BEM include actively networking economic actors for the development of sustainable and intermodal mobility solutions, improving the legal framework for the expansion of electromobility, and promoting greater equality of opportunity in the transition to low-emission drive concepts.
The decarbonization process pursued by the EU and many international economies in all economic sectors leads to a flourishing and future-proof green economy capable of significantly and sustainably improving all aspects of our lives. The social consensus, the recognition, the technologies, and the fundamental financial viability are now understood by stakeholders in politics and business as the cornerstones of this transformation, reflecting political willingness. However, the actual measures and laws implemented, as well as the unfolding of political steering effects, fall significantly short of expectations and the necessary urgency given the worsening climate crisis. Even from a purely economic perspective, investments in the energy and mobility sectors are worthwhile, as renewable energies are cheaper, and electric cars are more efficient and significantly more sustainable in both manufacturing and operation.
