The ‘Networked tire workshop’ in Hall 12
Digitalisation – the networking and automation of data and communication streams with the goal of automating work processes and making them more efficient – is increasingly transforming work in professional workshops. Already in 2018, Germany’s ASA Association joined forces with asanetwork GmbH and Messe Frankfurt in a special stand to demonstrate the wide range of today’s technical possibilities in a ‘Networked tire workshop’. Thanks to strong interest from visitors at the last trade fair, the association has decided to repeat this special showcase in Hall 12 in 2020, where it will feature a new stand layout. ASA President Frank Beaujean is overseeing the project in his role as Managing Director of asanetwork GmbH: “Messe Frankfurt is providing us with even more space for the stand this year to allow us to feature the latest advances in digitalisation and networking. Two years ago, the presentation at our stand helped a lot of visitors realise for the first time the many advantages that networking data and information from their workshop equipment with their own workshop management systems could offer them.”
The spectrum of possible applications has grown significantly beyond the exchange of measurement data from brake test stands and emissions testing equipment. “In principle, every application in the workshop in which data are read out or for which reference data are required should be networked with one another. That is why we are continuously working to expand the asanetwork networking standard,” says Beaujean. The association is hoping to use its special stand in Hall 12 to do more than simply display the networking solutions currently being used by professionals in tyre workshops. With the help of well-known ASA member companies, the ASA stand in Hall 12 also aims to showcase the full range of new services, including the calibration of assistance systems. Furthermore, it intends to use the example offered by tire tread depth measurements to demonstrate just how easy it is for companies with the right data in the right place to generate additional orders.
