Partnership with APRA Europe to be continued – remanufacturing to be featured at Automechanika Frankfurt 2022

25 Nov 2021

Following collaboration with the prestigious international Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) on this year’s special edition of Automechanika, a decision has been made to extend the partnership in the future. Remanufacturing – a topic that is becoming significantly more important in an age of climate change and scarce resources – will also be featured at next year's trade fair. There will again be a special Remanufacturing Day where trade visitors can find out about the latest trends and developments.

Following the success of the collaboration with APRA and excellent results of the first Remanufacturing Day at this year’s Automechanika, the trade fair management and APRA association have decided to continue their partnership in coming years. APRA is the only global association that represents the interests of automotive remanufacturing companies. It plays a key role in ongoing efforts to achieve a circular economy, because remanufacturing offers tremendous ecological benefits and delivers good value as an alternative to new products in the aftermarket. Remanufacturing saves millions of tonnes of CO2 equivalent emissions each year, enables CO2 savings of up to 90% and material savings of up to 85%.

According to Olaf Mußhoff, Director of Automechanika Frankfurt: “In a time of climate change and resource scarcity, the importance of the circular economy and remanufacturing are certain to grow. That is why I am particularly pleased that we are continuing our partnership with APRA, which is one of the most important representatives of the remanufacturing industry.” Both the association and the leading international trade fair for the automotive aftermarket benefit from this partnership: Automechanika is able to draw on APRA’s invaluable expertise, many years of experience, and large international network. APRA gets to take advantage of an outstanding platform where it can further raise the profile of the circular economy and remanufacturing in the automotive aftermarket while bringing various industry players together in the same place.
Dr. Daniel C. F. Koehler, Chairman of APRA Europe, is pleased that "through the successful and professional cooperation with Automechanika Frankfurt, the topic of remanufacturing will be given a more important role in the automotive aftermarket and the public will also be made more aware of its advantages.”

Plans call for another Automechanika Remanufacturing Day at the next Automechanika Frankfurt. This day, which takes place as part of Automechanika Academy, gives experts the chance to discuss pressing issues and developments in the field of remanufacturing. The topic is also featured in the exhibition halls, where exhibitors offering products and services in this area are identified by a special green remanufacturing logo. Visitors can find out about these companies both at the event itself and in advance online on the Automechanika Frankfurt website under the ‘Special Interest – Remanufacturing’ label in the exhibitor search.

The next Automechanika will take place from 13 to 17 September 2022 in Frankfurt.

Background information on APRA

APRA is the only global association that has been representing the interests of automotive remanufacturing companies since 1941. APRA is represented in Europe by APRA Europe, which is based in Brussels, Belgium. The association's 120 European members (out of a total of approx. 600 members worldwide) are primarily tier 1 suppliers and independent remanufacturers. Together with other partners, APRA Europe represents approx. two-thirds of all employees in the European automotive remanufacturing industry.
APRA Europe promotes remanufacturing as an integral part of the circular economy and represents the interests of the industry, including free trade, an independent aftermarket and legal certainty. Members benefit from the organisation’s close integration with other industry associations, receiving guidance and support for business matters. APRA Europe also holds its own conferences and other events to bring together supply and demand – for the benefit of each. APRA has been the voice of remanufacturing since 1941.
