40 years Automechanika

It was on 18 September 1971 that the trade fair made its debut in Frankfurt am Main. The original idea behind the Automechanika was an emergency measure following the cancellation of the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) for economic and political reasons. The trade associations refused to be impressed by this and called for an event for the automotive parts and accessories suppliers who were normally part of the IAA, too.
