Headlight adjustment and on-board electronic diagnostics with reading out the fault memory

Description of skills*
The participant should be able to explain everything that is important for properly conducting accident repairs. They will name the necessary measures and requirements for effective fault-finding and repair. They have application-specific knowledge of these processes and are able to define the necessary quality requirements.

Module content

  • Examination of the entire vehicle and the systems installed using the vehicle diagnostic device
  • Fault-finding for networked systems, e.g. the CAN bus and cabling/wiring
  • Reprogramming (“training”) control units after a voltage interruption
  • Coding and programming control units via the vehicle diagnostic device and pass-thru 
  • Function of driver assistance systems and problems that can occur in the event of improper maintenance and repairs
  • Function and testing of air bag systems for accident repairs
  • Function of LED and xenon headlights and their correct adjustment
  • Function of tyre pressure control and the impact on this of accident damage

Training course plan
The participant shall begin by learning the significance of all of the impacts that accident damage has on a networked vehicle. They will learn the various diagnostic and testing devices for accident repair. This will be followed by a practical demonstration of how diagnostic and measurement devices can be used to find and localise faults. After this, the participants will have an opportunity to use these devices themselves.
